Thank you for this helpful post. I think the identity I have cultivated for myself over the years--as a health-conscious person, a writer, and a person who supports others--has served me well over the years.

I enjoy your writing and see much value in it. Permit me to ask for a specific piece of advice. As a person with a chronic, sporadically disabling illness, how does one go about building sustainable habits when you go to bed at night not knowing what capacities you will have when you wake up the following morning?

Good stuff! Especially the poor self image. Not only has that caused me to sabotage relationships, it has also made me feel unworthy of even establishing the relationship to begin with. A lifelong struggle even at 79.
